This project is a renovation and extension of an existing family home. A small footprint site, the floorplan works hard to achieve the clients goals of accommodating a growing family, working from home requirements, and regular visiting guests. 

The existing house is a semi detached brick dwelling; as part of the approval Council were keen to maintain a uniform street frontage with its neighbour and so the front portion of the house was retained. The thermal and airtightness envelope is therefore a combination of retrofit to the brick structure and new timber framed light-weight construction to the rear.

The project includes Aluplast uPVC double glazed windows; Proclima membranes, tapes, and spray products for airtightness; woodfibre, earthwool and cork for insulation; a Zehnder ComfoAir HRV; and an 11kW PV array.
